Happy (American) Thanksgiving 2024!

Does anybody have plans? We will be going to Baba Kevin’s with with family friends. We got the whole turkey with sides. Really looking forward to the meal. I may also take the day off on Friday. Since I do work with a US government office, I’m expecting a slow day on Friday. Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the holiday I miss the most. I’ll be busy packing (moving to another apartment soon) but may take some time to feast on “turkey”

My part of the afternoon snack I treated our little group to today. The cinnamon roll is really good.

We (family of 3) were going to do the full turkey tomorrow night and treat out the daughter of longtime friends in the US, who is now a freshman at NTU. I figured she would appreciate that. But, apparently, she says it doesn’t have to be turkey, so we will aim for something more convenient.

That said, I was looking at the AMBA Ximending’s holiday turkey deal. Because I planned too late, the best I could do was reserve a table for Saturday – it was nice to know their promo extended that long

Since our friend doesn’t need it to be turkey, we will just plan a nice dinner out tomorrow night.

EDIT: Just noticed that the name of the restaurant at the AMBA Ximending is “Buttermilk” - I didn’t know that. When I initially called to make the reservation, the instruction was to ask for “Buttermilk” and, without batting an eye, I thought, “well, that’s a person’s name you don’t often see” (outside the nation of Florin – whoops, I got that wrong, too). So, in a land where we have heard much stranger names, my entire mindset was that I was speaking to someone named Buttermilk. I even assumed Buttermilk was a woman’s name, which, naturally, over here, it doesn’t have to be. Realizing just now that it is actually the name of the outlet instead of a person just tickles me

We’re having our meal after today too. When Thursday isn’t a holiday here, it’s hard to organize a meal with others on this day.

Hope you enjoy the meal at Amba/Buttermilk.

I had a Thanksgiving lunch. It was good, I’m thankful for that.

I like the positivity.

Baba Kevin’s turkey set was excellent. The turkey wasn’t dry at all, and the salad, stuffing, and mashed potatoes were all good. The pale ale we got was fantastic with the food.

I like the weekend evening vibe. I think I’ll go again just for some beers after dinner. Oh, and Kevin gave each of us an egg nog shot (stronger, sweeter, and more Irish cream liqueur tasting than most egg nog I’ve tried- almost like a B-52).

The one I went to is in Sanchong. I think it was good, turkey is not dry at all, potato and gravy and stuffing was good. I wish the portion could be better, but I didn’t think it was bad.

I saw pictures of a million dollar turkey dinner from Trump Tower or something, and it looked worse than the Walmart one I got when I worked there.

Trump’s million dollar turkey dinner.
