I think not, but I don’t have any evidence. If anyone has been converted to the neoconservative cause or become a liberal tree-hugger, please relate your experiences.
I can find some interesting information here, but the arguments are fruitless, I think. It’s good practice for those in the legal profession I guess. Other people might be honing their skills at disinformation, I don’t know.
Just curious.
I’m post-political. Watching some of those Chachis discuss politics is the same as watching a dog chase its’ own tail. :s
I’m a little less left of centre that I was, but that’s all. None of the arguments I’ve seen here have come even remotely close to being convincing, although El Tigre makes a pretty compelling case when he’s on song. As for your Rascals and your Fred Smiths, they don’t count at all, as they cancel each other out completely, leaving… what? Very, very little.
I know less now than I did before.
yes, i now hate people even more.
When an individual forum is so dominated by a very small number of individuals as the IP forum is then nobody gains anything from such a forum.
Sad but true.
Exactly!
And I’m a lot more irritable because of it.
I was better off in tree hugging bliss than in consternation hell.

Who dominates and how do they dominate?
Remarks such as yours above are, IMO, idiotic.

How and why are they idiotic?
Remarks such as yours above are, IMO, puerile.
I used to be a conservative-bashing, anti-Bush, pro-penguin, anti-guns n ammo, rational bloke. Now I am all of the above but more idiotic. It’s great!
Tigerman, conscience being pricked a little is it, or just being ultra defensive.
As this forum is dominated by one main poster, a fact not conjecture on my part, then it is not idiotic but true.
Unless an individual has an extreme pro bushite narrow minded view of the world then sensible discourse in this forum cannot be had.
All this forum is likely to do to a neutral bystander is confirm an inaccuarate but widely held view of the US and its people.
I have learned the danger of ideological driven arguments, having real but in most cases unaccountable consequences for their proponents.
I have learned that those who espouse the ideological arguments are far more guilty of the sins of those who stand the wall than those who stand the wall themselves.
I have learned that tolerance whilst virtuous is not always a virtue.
I have learned that people can justify anything to suit their own designs on the world.
I have learned that logic whilst the heart of good argument might not enlighten the heart.
I have learned that vitriol is the handmaiden of anonymity.
I have learned divisiveness is a cinch and agreement is hard fought.
I have been reminded of Tolstoy’s War and Peace, “I know that most men even those at ease with problems of the greatest complexity will seldom admit to the simplest and most obvious of truths if it be such that it oblidge them to admit to the falsity of conclusions which they have delighted in explaining to colleagues, profoundly taught to others and woven thread by thread into the very fabric of their lives.”
I have learned the power of Rodney King who after being brutally bashed and humiliated at the hands of the LA police had the presence of mind to call out in the most sanguine of voices, “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Such remarks are idiotic because nobody “dominates” this forum. This forum is open and anyone who wishes to state an opinion or make an argument is able to do so. Moreover, even if certain individuals did dominate this forum, the notion that such domination would preclude anyone from gaining any insight, one way or another, is, IMO, absurd. We can learn from those with whom we agree as well as from those with whom we disagree.
What was it that Confucius said about those who couldn’t learn? You’re an idiot, I see.
Moron, my conscience is quite clear. But, yes, I am defensive regarding idiotic posts that imply that this forum is dominated or otherwise les than open and free. Is that difficult for you to understand?
Dimwit, I asked not for you to repeat your initial staement. That doesn’t make it true. I asked you to explain how this forum is dominated by any one or group of posters. Is that question beyond your ability to comprehend?
It takes at least two to tango. If you’ve nothing to contribute, don’t complain about the content.
Don’t blame inaccurate notions or views on this forum. You want personal responsibility yet claim that this forum is responsible for giving wrong impressions.
You do not understand the nature of debate, IMO.
Tigerman is right.
However, he did move my Coldfront satire to the flounder forum in about 2 seconds flat. I still maintain it was sensorship, if not censorship.
Plus he can be quite offensive.
Tigerman, touched a nerve have i. Why the personal name calling.
Since you say that this forum is not dominated by a small number of posters, then please prove that by displaying the total number of posts say in the last six months, and how that number is broken down between individual posters.
I did not claim that this site was responsible for giving false impressions, only that it would confirm an already held inaccurate view.
Please do not try and confuse others with your own inability to understand plain english.

Whatever. Your attempt at satire was moved because it was irrelevant to this forum and was merely a personal attack without substance. Per the policy of this site, your post was moved to the flounder forum. That is not censorship. And censorship is the only issue here.
Who? Me? Coldfront?
What I don’t understand is how some people can be such crybabies. Have you ever considered for even a moment that everyone that posts political opinions and or arguments is offensive to someone or ones?
Why are so many of you such crybabies?
If they had the internet, they are the Iraqi’s. It’s a euphemism.
And no I don’t really want to get physically under your shirt. It’s a manner of speech.
I don’t think Cold Front tired so much as he became personally aware that he couldn’t carry on in a civilized manner on this site and appropriately fell on his sword. CF would have to confirm that of course. He was great though.
Anyway I agree with Jack let’s not highjack this thread with our own …bickering.
Let the good times role.
Hey, I think this forum is dominated by afew individuals also. That is one of the reasons for its creation. I also think the discussion on romanization in Taiwan is dominated by a few individuals.
All the name-calling I see above is, IMHO, entirely unnecessary. I also believe that we are free to make assertions without having to “prove” them to anyone. If I assert that the earth is flat, or I can whip up a mean souffle, or that there is a God in heaven, I surely do not need to back up those claims, especially if those assertions are a direct response to a valid question. I also think that we demean each other and each other’s opinions on these boards in a way that we would never do in person. My two cents.
