Has anyone ever tried to invest in shareholder and mutual funds in Taiwan?

I spoke to the bank advisors. But, I don’t always listen to them. Because most of them just want to make money from us. I want to know people’s personal experience. I don’t want to invest in bitcoin and stocks. Are there other investments in bank that are lower risks? Has anyone ever tried Shareholder or mutual funds? I heard about securities and savings. I want to make sure which ones have lower risks, but they have a reasonable amount of interests.

If you are American, don’t even think about it. PFIC reporting is a bitch

Uhm what do you think are in mutual funds?

That confused me, as well. Mutual funds consisting solely of treasury bonds are possibly what the OP is thinking about?

The charity rule suggest the OP was referring to individual stocks .

IMO mutual funds are much a muchness in terms of returns, if you are looking for lower risk. Mine all seem to give around 7% dividends and are medium risk. You’ll get lower with treasury bonds.

The ones the banks offer, except stocks. Which ones are low risks? Maybe securities. I am not sure about bonds. There are many Companies. I want to the companies that are stable and offer better dividends.

Yes. Have you ever invested on them? If yes, which Companies did you invest? How are they? I heard about Retirement Pension from E.Sun Bank. Have you ever tried this one?

No, I am not. hehe. No worries. I don’t have any problems with the Taiwanese Citizenship. I am just discussing about the economy with the veterans to make sure if anyone is currently investing. So, we can share the experience.

Have you ever tried with Fubon Bank and E.Sun? What are the best investments they offer with low risks?

Actually I want to ask, if I’m a former green card holder will I still be subject to FATCA reporting? I mean there’s always the whole “IRS didn’t know I got deported” and still decides to come after me for whatever reporting requirement.

I am thinking about purchasing bonds. The bonds are risky. However, they are safer than stocks. Have ever purchased bonds? Which company did purchase?

I think I was talking about this 基金 in Chinese. Something related to funds.

Come after you for what? Can’t squeeze blood from a turnip.

Different mutual funds have different risk and return profiles.

Even passive index funds can be risky (3x leveraged equity), or safe (basket of short duration government bonds). Depends on your definition of risk.

Are you asking how to open a brokerage account with a Taiwanese bank?

Or are you asking for recommendations for which mutual funds you should invest in?

If asking for bond fund recommendations, do you want Taiwanese government bonds? Taiwan corporate (company) bonds? US? Hong Kong …
