Hate Speech, Social Engineering and the Loss of Freedom

A lot has been said about the stupid, vulgar and possibly expensive outburst of Michael Richards. I’ve even posted a rather funny send-up of it from National Lampoon.
Now the 2 individuals from the audience have enlisted the aid of the well-known celebrity ambulance chaser, Gloria Allred, to achieve financial redress for their “pain, humiliation and suffering” by way of the legal system.

But who will be the big loser here? What are the real issues being put on trial?
I came across an article that addresses what might be at the core of this use of the legal system to make possibly precedent setting rulings in matters such as this.
I do believe that here is quite a lot of ‘social engineering’ going on in the USA - and other countries. And this might just be another example of the programming of the culture.
The US Constitution is a marvelous document. Eloquent, far seeing and the stone foundation of my nation. Its beauty lies its clearly spoken guarantees of specifically stated freedoms. One of these being the freedom of speech.
Does this freedom of speech also prohibit one from speaking what someone else doesn’t like? Or is insulted by?
Ms Allred opened her appearance on a talk show interview with - “This is not free speech, this is hate speech!.” She began, setting up the context in which she wants the world to see her argument for the $$$ in “victim compensation” from the court.
“There are social engineers in our time - and I count Allred among them - who are trying to imbue the American mind with the notion that so-called “hate speech” is not protected under the First Amendment. Now, let’s try to understand how this will be effected by taking a lesson in social engineering 101.”

A good article exploring how social engineering has become the latest threat to a free society. And even some web sites.

Mr. Richards had a lame night.
He got heckled. He heckled back, albeit it in a clumsy, stupified manner.

“He used the ‘n’ word!”.
LOCK DOWN!

Hasn’t the poor, bloated has-been sod degenerated himself, by his own actions alone?
Why draw any more attention to an obvious prick?

Or maybe, just maybe it’s a case of race on race.
That is to say, it’s not when (or even in what context) the “en” word is uttered, but rather by WHOM?.
Reeks of propaganda!
Here’s a tuned propos:

"Don’t say a word
Don’t say anything
Don’t say a word
I’m not even listening
I read in the paper about their escape
They’re just two bit of kids from a bunch of sour grapes
You better watch your step
Watch who’s knocking on your front door
Now you know that they’re watching
What are you waiting for?
Think you’re young and original
Get out before…
They get to watch your step

Ev’ry day is full of fun
And family spies
They’re making heroes out of fall guys
They say it’s good for business
From Singapore to Widnes
You better watch your step

Broken noses hung up on the wall
Back slapping drinkers cheer the heavy weight brawl
So punch drunk they don’t understand at all
You better watch your step

Ev’ry night
Go out full of carnal (carnival) desires
End up in the closing time choirs

When you’re kicking in the car chrome
And you’re drinking down the Eau de Cologne
And you’re spitting out the Kodachrome
You better watch your step

Bye
I send you all my regards
You’re so tough
You’re so hard
Listen to the hammers falling in the breaker’s yard
You better watch your step
You better watch your step
Ooh, watch your step."

“Well I used to be disgusted, now I’m just amused.”

I’m not that much more bothered by the “social engineering.”. Just seems to me like another way of making an end run around the political process to get your agenda in. Unfortunate for those of us who like stability in our Constitution, but hardly a new tatic.

Amen, TC. Richards has a right to say what he wants, and be thereby discredited.

I wonder what would happen if he countersued them for “pain and suffering” because of their heckling? Surely it is far worse to be called incompetent in what one does for a living, then merely to have a racial epithet hurled at one.

Michael

personally speaking,…

i think the black guy started it and actually wanted him to do that. it was race baiting. so the guy felt, “wanna race bait? okay. N word, no word, n word, n word”.

i might have done the same thing. next time I’m on TV and they say “Ah do gah”, i might say some racist type thing against chinese just to get their attention and let them see how it feels. when they say sorry, then i’ll say sorry and ask that we communicate like human beings.

A recent example of blatant censorship along with physical attacks perpetrated on a speaker…at a college law school. And this was organized and premeditated. Is this attack to be considered “Free Speech” or Freedom of Expression"?
Even thought it denies “Free Speech” to someone else?
By the way, the ‘victim’ of this is far far far from being a ‘racist.’

Protestors at a Michigan law school turned violent Thursday as they attempted to stop a speech by Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Littleton. (Post)

Violence erupted at a Michigan law school Thursday when protestors tried to block a speech by Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo.

Police were called after protestors pulled a fire alarm prior to the speech on immigration policies. There were at least three violent incidents with protestors targeting student backers of the event, Tancredo, R-Littleton, said today.

“One was spit on, one was kicked, and one was punched,” Tancredo said in an e-mail. “Tires were also slashed.”

Michigan State University College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom sponsored the event.

Tancredo went to Michigan State University College of Law as part of a visit to the state to talk about immigration. He leads the group that opposes legal status for illegal immigrants.

Protestors interrupted the speech with loud shouting.

College newspaper The State News reported that protesters carried signs reading “Ignorant Racist” outside the room where the speech was held. They were not allowed in with the signs, the paper said. It also reported that about 40 people attended the speech.

Tancredo said in the email that protestors organized on the Internet social networking site Facebook.

“They declared ahead of time on facebook that they would not allow me to speak,” Tancredo said in the e-mail.

Tancredo also is meeting with the Republican state party chair, members of the state legislature, and is speaking at a fundraiser for a Republican women’s group, Tancredo spokesman Carlos Espinosa said.

Pretty disgusting event to happen on a college campus.
