I was just offered a full-time job at a decent school but the hours are not that high. It starts at 12 hours/week and will eventually go up to 20 hours/week. Still not that high but relatively good.
At the moment I am between jobs but not totally without work. I have two part time teaching jobs, one of them is from my present ARC school because my ARC does not expire until later this month. That part is complicated so I will stick with my query. But I do want to continue working for my present school after my ARC with them expires by applying for a part time work permit, and adding it to my new ARC.
The new school says that I cannot have a part time job if I work for them. It is their policy, not the law. As far as I know, foreign teachers who hold a full-time work permit and an ARC are legally allowed to add at least one part time work permit to their ARC.
My new school is not disputing that. But as I said, they have a policy that states none of their teachers can have a part time job outside their school. They have said that when my present ARC expires later this month, I will have to quit my part time job in order for them to agree to sponsoring me for a new ARC at their school.
The supervisor and I were kicking around the idea of me applying for a part time work permit at my old school so I could keep those part time hours but their head office said no.
So, I am wondering:
If I take the job at the new school, can I add a part time job to my new ARC without my new school knowing about it?
I hope that’s not too complicated, but here it is in simpler terms.
If you have a full time ARC job, can you add a part time work permit to your ARC without the full-time school knowing about it?
