From time to time a woman in her 20’s or 30’s (I’m in my 30’s) will approach me and try to hook up when I’m browsing in department stores. Usually ask for my Line and message me later about meeting up.
Maybe happened to me once or twice back home (and the chick was obviously mentally ill or on drugs).
Only thing I can make of it is that they either want free English lessons or that there is a certain % of Taiwanese young women who are after western men.
I’ve met up with 2 of them recently (went to one of the beaches).
One of them I could be in a relationship with but it seems a little weird to have met my girlfriend by her approaching me when I was shopping.
I’ve been randomly chatted to by annoying people who wanted some one way english practice. But probably only actually chatted up once, but they turned out to be a ladyboy.
One reason is guys shop less the women thus a lot more women at stores and as result odds are bad for women to ask, I seldom go to department to shop (mostly to eat or maybe to the supermarket) and if I go it’s with a girl. I have had younger girls talk to me Kaoshiung MRT/trains, once on the street (this happens outside of Taiwan more so to me though) I also would not add LINE account to random stranger at this point in my life, I do add some girls I know like from the coffee shop but after seeing them a few times and talking a bit, haha.
I guess you must be pretty good looking. The only times random women tried hooking up with me in public places like that were when the woman was appeared to be visibly mentally ill. Every now and then, a confident man who desperately wants a foreign friend might approach me in that way. Once a woman seeing me studying Chinese on the bus asked if we could language exchange, but she had no other intentions.
As for whether or not to go into a relationship with a woman who approached you this way, I can’t see why not. This is the 21st century. Women often make the moves first nowadays (or so I’ve been told).
As she was walking away my brain registered. If she was more attractive i might have found out the exciting way but real life isn’t like porns i guess!
If you keep yourself in shape, don’t dress like a slob (not that you would ever do so), and don’t act like a crazy foreigner—you’d be surprised what’s possible.
