Health Insurance and leaving a job

Can someone please tell me, when you leave a job, does your health insurance finish immediately or does it continue until the end of the month you’re currently paid to? I’m leaving my job (finished working) because they no longer have teaching hours for me, but my contract doesn’t expire for several months and nothing has been signed or communicated formally yet. I have some dental work I want to get done and want to do it before starting with another employer.

Thanks in advance for your response

I was triggered today. Used NIH card to make appointment for today at dental clinic I’ve used recently. I show up on time and hand them my card and immediately am told to take the chair. The doctor asks what I want and I tell him a cleaning. He gets the tools and gets through 3 lower molars and tells me to rinse. The receptionist tells me my card is no good.

Next the receptionist or doctor asks if I’ve paid the NIH bill. WTF? Don’t ask me questions like that !!! Simply tell me my NIH card doesn’t work and tell me how much money you want to finish the GD teeth cleaning !!!

They never said a word about what the cash price would be for the service. I got my card and left with my 2 or 3 cleaned, only cleaned the inside of those back molars on the right side, and left. Fcukers

I left my last assignment at the end of last month (June) and worked at another school long enough to get my pay for June reduced by the NIH deduction at the start of this month.

New job, it seems, never signed me up for NIH and never sent the money deducted earlier this month. WTF ???

So what do real men do in such situations? Call the wife and ask her to fix the problem. She called NIH and they said the new job(s), neither of them, had any of my paperwork processed so far. They explained it could take 20 days to get it all done so this means the new job who deducted the money from my pay either didn’t send the money or everything is still being processed.

Anyhow. I need my teeth cleaned.

It’s not uncommon for cram schools to try and avoid signing up foreigners for health insurance. Anything to save a few $$$. I was told I didn’t need it and if I got sick, they’d just give me some money to see a doctor. I played dumb and told them not to worry and that I’d just go to NHI office and get it myself. They panicked and told me NOT to do that. A week later I suddenly had health insurance. I wonder why.
