Help! Applying for an ROC passport for the first time

Hi! I am 20+, and an ABC female. My parents both were born in Taiwan, so of course are ROC passport holders. I know I would need to enter Taiwan using my newly applied for ROC passport, and stay for 1 year in order to obtain my passport and ROC ID the fastest.

Here’s some questions that came up:

  1. I know the U.S. frown on U.S. born citizens to have dual citizenship. If I am living abroad for a year, and return and they see I have no visa for visiting abroad, won’t this raise questions about my whereabouts? I don’t want to jeopardize my U.S. citizenship. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

  2. If I don’t have the Taiwan I.D. yet, am I entitled to work in Taiwan as a resident? (non-ARC card) Is there some other process I would need to take?

I’d say this post has definitely been put in the wrong section. Try Visa and Residency issues…
