I know your registered address must match your actual address (that’s where they will sent the notice of a refund). I tried to file last year and they wouldn’t let me file until I had changed the address on my ARC. This means you should probably make a trip to Panchiao to register in Taipei County first before going to the tax office.
It’s a pain but I guess you could ask the people at the tax office in Taipei where to file if you live in Yonghe (No. 2 Section 1, Zhong Hua Road is the building address for the tax office in Taipei (it is basically in Hsimending…about two or three blocks down - AWAY from Hsimending - from the Foreign Affairs Police office on the opposite side of the street)
Once you figure out where to file, there are volunteers there to help so I am sure they can tell you about your husband.
Don’t for get to take your passport to the tax office when you file! They need to see it to verify the date you entered Taiwan. If you don’t have it with you then they won’t accept your tax forms. (I learned this the hard way too!)
Good luck…
While we’re at it, are there any official English-language sources stating the documents a foreigner has to provide for filing private income tax? My boss doesn’t believe that I need the copy of the license of the CPA who states that my company only pays me salary here in Taiwan.
Uh…my boss gave me a form saying my income was 160,000 and my taxes were 0.
These numbers are supposed to be for 1 year.
You figure I will get deported when I try to hand this in?
