Help finding a decent gym in Taipei

On the topic of gyms, saw a couple of mid 20s girls going to my gym while i was leaving.

They were fit and dressed in the typical skimpy atire.. but couldn’t manage taking the stairs and instead took the 1 floor lift for old and disabled people.

I just don’t get it I really dont.

They didn’t want you to get the upskirt-view.

They’re afraid of getting radish calves.

@miamidice nobody wears skirts in the gym. Its skimpy leggings. Jokes on you mate I could already see everything on offer!

@Dr_Milker yea asian calves are next level. I see ah beis who never even worked out before with Mr olympia level calves pretty much all the time.

It’s from rice paddy genes.

@ninman Did you end up finding a new gym?

No, I stopped going to the gym, and decided to go to karate 3 days a week instead.

I went back to the gym and tried to take 5kg plates that were on a rack next to a smith machine this guy was using.

He tried to stop me because he wanted to use them later, like in 2 sets or so. So I took them anyway.

The guy also wasn’t wearing shoes and the guy deadlifting and blocking a squat rack was back.

I complained to the staff about people hogging equipment. The staff took their side and didn’t even ask them to put their shoes on.

I then started pointing at random pieces of equipment and asked them “Can I use that?” “Who do I ask if I want to use that?”

Instead of answering my question they yelled at me in a threatening and aggressive manner. It was like they were the police and I was a criminal.

So I kiai’d at the guy as hard as I could. He literally put his hand up to block his face.

Then they called the police. So I left.

Apparently, they can’t wrap their minds around the idea that the contract I signed gives me fair and equal access to any unused equipment, and other members do not have the right to “reserve” equipment, or stop me from using it.

So I’m cancelling my contract and going to karate 3 days a week.

You sound like a mentalist.

Also what does it mean to kiai into somebody’s face ?

Karate three times a week will be better than any gym.

Good communication is key in life. It heads off 90% of problems.

Maybe work in some yoga…

I don’t know how much clearer I can make the phrase “he wasn’t using it”.

The issue wasn’t communication, the issue is their focus on where the plates were and did I ask, not, was he using them.

It means he was obnoxiously yelling at someone like he’s from Cobra Kai.

It means I was reacting to a gym manager yelling at me in a threatening manner.

How do you react when people threaten you?

Calmly.

First of all, it’s very easy to say that when you don’t have a large man with 5 coworkers, all of whom are very strong and fit trying to intimidate you.

Second of all, I was calm.

What style ?

Shotokan, why?
