Whatās the Craigslist link for?
Yea, is the missed connections listing for missing persons? I thought people used it to try to connect with someone they wanted to get to know romantically.
All the stories around Taroko, thereās a big of a dark book to be written about it.
The family of the missing lady, Alice Ku, need to be making a bigger stink about what happened to her. Or other concerned citizens . Time is of the essence to investigate potential crimes. Get Netflix Taiwan to make a doc and it will get exposed. The 2nd most popular Netflix show in Taiwan is about a CBC going missing In a hotel in LA.
I changed the thread title to give the likely victim a name.
How do you get netflix taiwan to make a doc on this?
This is so bad. Someone killed her, and they are walking away totally free
Yup.
This guy sitting comfortably not facing the law makes me sick.
These kind of scenarios happen.
I just see this.
āPersonal injuryā . . . Iām not sure this fully captures the range of this situation.

This is filed by a relative I guess. Details unknown.
The world would be a more peaceful place if we adhered to the loving nature of the best tracker of all, Grizzly Adams

Maybe Deep inside the forest
Is a door into another land
Here is our life and home
We are staying, here forever
In the beauty of this place all alone
We keep on hopi-inā
Maybe
Thereās a world where we donāt have to run
And maybe
Thereās a time weāll call our own
Livinā free in harmony and majesty
Take me ho-ome Take me home
I havenāt been able find a technical-type legal explanation for that on the Internet. Iām not implying that there is or isnāt such an explanation, and Iām not saying there is or isnāt such an explanation on the Internet. Iām just saying that I havenāt been able to find one.
Iām not familiar with California law.
Edited to add that apparently California has a form for personal injury/wrongful death suits (not that that addresses the issue you raised):
Personal Injury as a category includes all sorts of torts, including wrongful death. As in: if someone wrongfully caused the death of your loved one you may sue them in civil court and ask for damages (money) without having to prove that a crime was committed. The standard of proof will be lower in a civil (personal injury) case, so that George Ku doesnāt have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the crime of murder was committed. Only has to prove that Harald Hechen likely did something to his wife.
Even if the Plaintiff doesnāt have solid evidence, the circumstantial evidence may be strong. And a suit like this can be a technique to subpoena records and conduct an investigation of sorts.
At the very least it makes things public and a matter of record.
The documents are searchable. Iām having trouble adding a link here. The civil complaint alleges that Hechen killed Alice Ku, that afterwards he sent at least one false message from her account to impersonate her and throw others off the investigative trail, that he should be barred from collecting insurance money from her death, and that he should pay the family for their loss in actual damages and punitive damages.
If I can figure out how to link it here I will do so.
EDIT: go here: Public Portal - Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara
type in case number 21CV376210 and hit āsearch.ā
Choose the āeventsā tab.
On the right side under ādocuments,ā you can click the PDF logo to view each document. Interesting reading: āfirst amended complaintā (6/8/2021), and ādemurrerā (4/13/2021).
Great work. Thank you for the clear explanation!
Guy
Excellent work and continue the search for justice George Ku.
I wonder how could the plaintiffs could demonstrate that Hechen impersonated Alice Ku and used her device fraudulently (i.e. send the allegedly fake email from Aliceās account)?
Guy
Thatās a good question. One of the Kuās lawyers is a programmer and tech expert. There may be a tech-ie way to examine phone logs, devices, email accounts, and determine which ISP the log in for her last message took place? Maybe another clever way? (Iām not a tech expert.)
Another possibility is that the attorneys go on a fishing expedition: they file suit, make these claims, and if they survive the demurrer (if the judge lets the case move forward) then they will subpoena devices, records, and witnesses to build a case.
From where Iām sitting thereās no way to tell whatās going on behind the scenes.
A complicated case because of the passage of time, and because theyāre filing in the U.S. to prove that something happened in Taiwan.
The fact that they havenāt found her body really raises suspicions. Thatās the major evidence thatās holding this case back. They also need to prove a motive.
