HELP: how to find a house in Yuli?

Hi guys,

First sorry for my french. My english is an embarrassment…hope it’s still understandable…

My wife and me are about to move from Taipei to Yuli (玉里) in Hualien district. GREAT!!! But we encountered an unexpected problem: finding a house is not an easy task!
Currently we live in a small house in Taipei (Mucha). The house is old, moldy, humid…but the surroundings are great; greeny hills…awesome wildlife…so at first we thought in Yuli it will be even easier to find a similar house. Boys we were wrong! :no-no:

First the people we know over there seem to not understand our needs. Asking them we want a house in the countryside, even an old moldy one is ok, we just want a quiet and greeny place… seems beyond their understanding. All they offer are some houses in the town near the train station, the local 7.11…they say “It’s great! Fang bian 方便!” Sorry but f%$k “fang bian” and 7.11! :raspberry: :fume: :slight_smile:

Anyway next week I’ll go to Yuli. Over there I plan to rent a scooter and display in all “public” places (stores, post office, gas stations…) our search for a house ads.

Guys have you other suggestions and tips to offer? Any help much appreciated!!! :pray:

I was just in Yuli two days ago. Lovely area, and one of the better small towns in Taiwan.

I don’t have any solid leads for you but try this: stay at Wisdom Garden, a lovely house up in the hills a few km outside Yuli. The owner (who also lives part time in Muzha) is very kind and knows a lot of people in the area so she may be a good contact for you. Certainly she will understand what it is you are looking for.

I too want to move to that area.

By the end of the year a bike path will run from Yuli back up to Liyu Lake in Hualien. 75k. Nice. :thumbsup:
