The family is going to see this play. It’s a relatively famous play on its second tour. Subtitles are not offered, but, I’d really be happy if I can get my hands on the Chinese script Then I can run it through a translator or talk to other people.
I haven’t been able to find out much about the story. Maybe you would have better luck .

There are several reviews though. The main plot revolves around the historically figures of Yue Fei, who is a Han Chinese hero for fighting against the Jurchen invaders, and Qin Kuai, who is the chief advisor to the emperor and jealous of Yue’s battle field achievements.
The play added a twist to the traditional tale, by embellishing the female characters around Yue and Qin. A lot of emphasis is put on the relationships between women and their mother-in-law. How these relationship eventually shaped the history to what it became is the fun of the play.
