HELP! Please help test a new version of Forumosa

The Discourse Project Manager who is helping us has offered to GREP any additional BBCodes that are not currently supported (i.e., YouTubeBB3)

Pls suggest other BBCodes or Emoji that we should ask him to GREP for us - for example:
col
yts
code
think
spoiler
pdfview
googlemaps

Ooh, I like this choice of notification feature in the new version. Does the current forum have these options?

Yes - I like that, too! The version that we will use should have that

I used the googlemaps BBcode a couple of times.

I specifically looked for forum software that was Responsive, so we would not require an additional app, like Tapatalk

I found this (meta.discourse.org/t/tapatalk-a … ject/10023) - so it may well be possible. For now, this is something I would revisit after we have settled into Discourse. If a good number of Tapatalk users (10?) say they want us to add the functionality, can we talk about it again then?

Will the new password length requirement change?
Or will all passwords migrated to the new forum?
Frankly, not only that I cannot login now with my password, I am somehow also reluctant to have now a 15-letter password.

[quote=“tom1807”]Frankly, not only that I cannot login now with my password, I am somehow also reluctant to have now a 15-letter password.[/quote]How did you post without logging in?

Try logging into the test site now and let us know if you were successfull

Nope, not succesful at all, I am posting here (old site) and not the new site.
I used the same password what i used here, no, no chance

Thanks for posting here again

In a few days, the new Discourse will be ready. When you try to login, choose to reset the password. It will be an 8-character password not 15-character

If that still doesnt seem to work, LINE or call me at 0952 948 975

[quote=“hansioux”]So under discourse, by pasting an youtube link on its own in one line would automatically embed the video to the post.

e.g.
youtube.com/watch?v=5yaT306sGIg

I wonder if it’d be possible to parse through old posts and remove all youTubeBB3 tags, or modify youTubeBB3 tags to do nothing but spit the youtube link back out. Maybe that way all the videos show up nicely?[/quote]

Posted as a reply in the test discourse forum. Thought it might be useful to keep a record here as well.

I don’t know how to do it in phpBB’s (SQL?) Database.

If the data is stored in plain text, then we could just do a sed operation:

I tested it, it works. Although I doubt the data is in plain text, so we might need some SQL WHERE table=xxx contains “[youtubebb3]” voodoo magic.

Thank you, hansioux

I have given a list of BBCodes to our Discourse guy amd he should change the codea to comprable or or plain text

Is there any particular reason that the new Forumosa will be governed by the laws of California? Why not Taiwan? (rf. ToS of the new page)

Nope, not succesful at all, I am posting here (old site) and not the new site.

Right now it’s a 10 letter minimum. I chose to reset password and only had to add one character to my existing pw.

Thanks for pointing this out. That’s just boilerplate language from the software package, we’ll be looking at and modifying it–among a bunch of other stuff–once the new site is fully up. It’ll take a little time and trial and error to get everything fully tweaked.

How do we even send a PM? I even visited the old Forumosa and I can’t even send a PM!

The old site is inactive. You can send a PM here by clicking on a user’s name or icon, and then Message. There’s also a Users list you can access from the triple-bar icon at top right.

Indeed-- also a message icon under your user icon at top right.

Thanks for publicizing my username.

IMHO, the top banner is too high, resulting in less display areas for the main contents.

Just saying.
