Help with criminal record check

I have been living in Taiwan for almost 2 years just recently got married to a local girl. My dillema is thata I can’t apply for an arc because I have a criminal record back in my home country. Is there any way around this document? does anyone know of a good immigration lawyer that can help me?

Which country are you from? As I know there is no way around it that I am aware of, I highly suggest that you get one, they are very easy to obtain from your local or state police. And see my website for more specific details.

Try to get one from the police here. I don’t know how long you have to have been in Taiwan, but that’s what I did.

i’m from canada. how far back is the check? more than 10 years? i thinki’l just try and get one from the local police and see if it will fly. thanks for the advice

Did you use this to succesfully apply for the Joining Family Resident Visa?

I’m in the process of applying for a pardon in my home country (Canada), but it may take as long as two years. It would be REALLY nice if I didn’t have to wait this long to be “legal” here.

My wife actually asked the Foreign Affairs office about just telling them about my record (misdemeanor posession charge from ten years ago). They said that because it involved drugs, there was no way they could overlook it. The guy claimed if the charge had been for assault or theft it may be alright, but a drug charge is out of the question. What a freakin’ joke.

haven’t actually tried to get crc yet. I highly doubt that it will fly but it is worth a shot? I am in the same boat thinking of sailing it to china untill my pardon comes through. I heard 2 to 3 year wait for pardons.

If that is the official name for ‘marriage visa’, then yes.

Chaon I agree with yor argument.
