Well just interested in natural materials. Hemp rope was used for many purposes in the past, 'specially on ships.
Polyester fibre rope? Yuck.

I don’t think it’s illegal. I’ve bought hemp string in the everything shop. Never seen hemp rope, though. I guess there’s just not much call for it.
But yeah. Synthetic rope is mostly not fit for purpose.
