Here's A Softball ... Best Hotel Value on Brown Line?

This should be an easy one …

What’s a great hotel value on the MRT’s Brown Line between Daan Park and the Zoo?

We want to spend a few nights playing in the city with our little one. Go to the zoo, the Maokong tea houses, Play Space, Ice Monster, Daan, etc.

We can go in the middle of the week and don’t need anything luxurious (under ~$3,000 NT).

There is a small hotel right beside Daan station, beside the pasta shop, but I’ve never checked it.

Just north, there is a decent love hotel just north of Zhongxiao-Fuxing.

There’s also a new very slick looking love hotel in Muzha near the zoo.

Finally, just saw a sign for a B&B right in Maokong at the end of the gondola line. Was in a little farm, more rustic than quaint, but I didn’t check the inside. Could have superb views if set up right and certainly a good location. Food, tea, hiking trails, and even a clean stream your little one can play in.

That one is very much worth visiting. Huge rooms, Big flat screen TVs, multilevel sofas, jacuzzi (some of them have pools). :howyoudoin:

Just to follow up my original post…

Thanks for the input, although the suggestions did not really seem to fit us. I’ve looked a couple of times for the hotel by the zoo and not seen it, is there a name or website? Also, the Love hotel I know about looks strictly for affairs/hooking, “Open 24 hours - Shhhh”…

We ended up opting for the Fullerton near Da’an MRT at the suggestion of a couple of guide books. It’s a nice hotel, but pretty pricey for what you get. Breakfast is lousy, rooftop “garden” anemic, and nice but so-so service. You can get the same crappy breakfast and clean, nice English speaking service, and same sized room at Friend’s Star Hotel for literally half the cost. On the plus side for the Fullerton, the internet room was nice (but “no looking at the porno websites”) and the spa was empty and very nice (although I was a little unclear if it was a nude soaking situation like at a hot spring, or a bathing suit situation like at a hotel spa…).

Overall, a great trip. The wife loved the hotel - even after having to switch rooms after the first night and being given a broken crib. The baby loved the zoo (it’s nice, if you haven’t been). We also made up to a very nice tea house (thank you, Mucha Man) where we spent a lovely afternoon and then braved the gondola after missing the bus down the hill (FWIW, at the bottom of the hill the bus leaves ON the hour (i.e. ~1, 2, 3, etc.) and I think it is at WanFang Community Hospital MRT stop?) (oh, and the best way to do the gondola is to take the bus up and ride down - no line at all). We also made it to the indoor playground at Playspace, Eslite Dept Store (where we took our first real steps for the video camera), and our favorite restaurant “Huey Luey” (Hui Liu http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2002/11/29/185274). A very nice “vacation” in the city.

Oh  . You’re looking for a ‘real’ hotel.
