I’m looking for a set of Wusthof Classic knives, but I’d be open to other high-end brands as well such as Zwilling or what not. I’ve searched past threads, and it seems there’s the Tianmu SOGO, but I live close to the 101 tower, and was wondering if there was something nearby. Thanks!
shinkong misokoshi in Xinyi has high end knife concession stands in one of the buildings. There’s also a Henkel shop in Neihu

Thanks a lot! I gave the Zwilling retailer in Neihu a call, and they said they have a Zwilling retailer located in the Xinyi Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A8 building. Cheers!
The best deal I found on Shun is at a store (T-mart?) near the Shilin Sogo, in a lane running north from the middle or back side of the Sogo, It’s on the right side.
iUse also has a selection of high-end knives (near the Minquan Costco, next to the gas station on the right as you come off the Minquan bridge when heading east).
The high-end department stores also seem to carry a brand or two of better knives in their kitchen areas.
For the prices you’d need to pay for those brands, you might well be better off buying some quality knives from Jinmen.
I use a Henckels chef’s knife, have for 20 years. It’s a mighty fine piece of steel, I must say. Late last year I picked up a Shun santoku knife, and wow it too is a very nice piece of steel. Very beautiful, too.
Ergo, I like Dragonbones’ recommendation. If seems logical that Shun would be less expensive in Taiwan than fine German brands, and I don’t think you’ll notice any drop off in quality at all.
I researched them, handled a lot of them, and chose Shun, because they’re razor sharp, gorgeous, and come with free resharpening. They feel right in my hand and aren’t too heavy. If I get a big meat cleaver, I might go with something like a Wusthof for durability and heft, but for my main, paring and filet knives I prefer something sharper. They are expensive, though. If you get a set at the T-Mart place you can negotiate them down on the price.
The T-Mart is closing if not already closed and out of business. I was in there a couple of months ago and they were having a final sale. Half the shelves were empty. I guess they’ve probably closed for good by now but haven’t been past there recently.
Anyone know anywhere that sells Shun knives in Taipei?
