As a Taiwanese American, I’m curious to hear how Taiwanese living in Taiwan feel about Hong Kong’s current political climate. I personally side with the protestors but it’s not the same sort of burning passion I feel for American politics because I don’t live in HK or even Asia in general.
It’s on everyone’s mind. Most do sympathize with HK protesters, of course not all. It’s also on the governments mind. I was talking to one of the few ambassadors Taiwan has, he told me people are very concerned about it.
Concerned about what exactly?
Instability can cause brash decisions. China may very well step up pressuring other countries on the one china policy.
And since you got this from one of the few remaining Taiwanese ambassador, he was probably worried about his job too, I guess.
