Can the address on the ARC be a mailing address of a friend? Or even a virtual mailing address? Isn’t it just a address for the government to mail you stuff?
Problem is I tend to move around a lot and don’t really have a fixed address. I guess worst case is I rent a cheap $100 bedroom in taoyuan or somewhere cheap just to receive mail.
The address must be where you live. Immigration officers have been known in the past to check. I believe you can be fined if you do not update your address when you move. Saying that, I know many people that do not update it and haven’t had any problems yet. Updating your address is free, if you move house every month, then go to the NIA each month to change it. If you are lucky, they will allow you to keep your old ARC whilst you wait for a new one, it all depends on who you are sitting in front of and if they remember to take it.
