I need some advice for my sister. Where would you go for a honeymoon? Boracay Philippines, Phuket Thailand or Bali? I think Boracay, that is my opinion. I was there last year for a wedding and I had a blast. I am well traveled around Asia and I thought the beaches there were amazing, the food (western and Filipino) was amazing, the people were nice, and the nightlife was fun. I didn’t notice much of a sex tourism presence there, at least not like Thailand. I have been to Phuket, but it was 8 years ago and I didn’t think it was anything that great. Her travel agent in the States is telling her that she won’t like the food and convincing her to go to Hong Kong and then Phuket Thailand. Any advice for her please and any recommendations on resorts if you have any. Also Bali is a thought as well. Thanks for any input.
I have never been to Bali and I personally don’t have the desire too. I know it is pretty expensive there too. Anyway, thanks so much for any advice you can give me.
Phuket can be beautiful and romantic you just need to pick the right hotel and beach. Avoid Patong, and Karon beaches and stay at a nice place in Bangtao or Surin (spend at least 3K per night). Rent a car and bop around.
Bali has everything, though around Chinese New Year a lot of the beaches fill up with garbage from neighboring Java.
Bali is far and way the most romantic and idyllic with their culture miles ahead of the other two. You also have the neighboring Gili Islands which are amazing.
Phuket would have the best food, but Bali is a close second.
I’ve spent a bit of time in all the places. For a honeymoon, I would probably go with Phuket, Boracay, Bali.
People like to say they want to Bali for their honeymoon, but it isn’t as great as that.
Phuket has a huge variety of things to to for memories, from kayak through a mangrove with monkeys, to high speed boat rides to exotic islands. Just be sure and stay at a great resort.
The pseudo-simplicity of Boracay, with the most beautiful sunsets of the 3 locations, makes it stand out. There are activities. But the simplicity of walking out your door and stepping right into the sand under the palm trees really make it unique.
Bali is freagin’ fargin’ frackin’ crowded. Hours of traffic to go a few km or miles. If you want to stay in a resort most of the time then you won’t notice as much, but you can stay in a resort anywhere in the world.
And yes, they should take advantage of a stopover in whatever city their flight goes through. Tokyo is great, Hong Kong is good…
