Time was, I would arrange all the Forumosa Happy Hours myself, and attend them from start to finish. With a demanding work schedule, and a baby at home, that’s no longer possible, and I am now only to get there after 10:00, over two hours late!
To remedy this, I’d like to start having our Happy Hours hosted by others - Forumosan moderators and regulars. The hosts would be responsible for doing a meet-and-greet, introducing newer members of our community around. Our Happy Hour hosts will drink on Forumosa’s tab for the whole Happy Hour, so you won’t have to spend a nickel at the bar. I’m happy to arrange the venue for the hosts, but if you’d like to arrange a venue that you think would be suitable for us, that would be great as well. We ask that venues provide us with at least one kind of beer for $100, as well as at least one kind of standard mixed drink for $100. Food specials are appreciated, and often encourage greater turnout, but are not required.If you’re interested in doing this please, let me know.
Forumosa’s first hosted Happy Hour will be on Thursday, September 13, and will be hosted by Dragonbones. If you’re new to Forumosa, or if you’ve never met any of the regular characters IRL, this is a great opportunity to show up and be introduced!
While I’m not going to be lining up any time soon to host a HH, this seems like a reasonable idea. Maoman is pretty busy, what with work, wife and a wittle one… and Gustav. I can understand the desire to delegate.
For me, however, HHs are simply an opportunity to get together in real life with other Forumosans… I like most of yinz, and I enjoy sitting around catching up and solving the problems of the world, or just our small corner of it, over a few drinks. And I don’t care if those drinks are discounted, either… although a discount does have an appeal, it doesn’t make or break the night for me. I also don’t need any themes for get togethers… its good enough just to see some of you folks and share a few laughs an’at. Thus, less production might make it easier for whoever is going to do the hosting. Its about being together IRL and having fun… that’s all. I think.
I’ll probably not make this coming HH… too far away for me on a weeknight. But, I’m sure those who do attend will enjoy themselves quite well.

That’s an idea, but I was thinking of hosting it in my mountain retreat. The party begins at 3:58 sharp. As you walk up the path, I hurl insults and rotten KFC egg tarts at you. At 4:20 :beatnik: this all stops as we head to my kitchen (TomHill, yes, I said my “kitchen”) and we have an erm…“small” HH.
