Hotmail Hacked! Help!

Sorry, bit of an emergency, no time to do a search. Apparently I’m sending links to penis enlargement stuff to my Hotmail friends. Need help ASAP! I’m a computer moron and can’t work out how to change my Hotmail password.

That’s because you’re hacked out … no control anymore?

Contact Hotmail …

Assuming you can still log into hotmail your name will appear in the upper right had corner. There is a small down arrow on the right hand side of your name. Click on it, then click on account. To the right of your password click on the change button. Log out and log back in. You should be good.

That’s the good thing about Gmail … you’re able to bind your account to a specific device … and your mobile# as a control when someone tries to change your password or hack your account …

If you are locked out and your profile has a secondary e-mail address (I hoped it does mine is a yahoo account) you can go to the login screen click on forgot password. They will generate a temporary password and send it to your backup e-mail account. If you have been hacked the first thing the hackers might do is change this.
Hope this helps.

I’m not locked out and managed to change the password. Thing is, in Firefox, even with the new password, the Hotmail window at the top of the screen flickers suspiciously all the time, whilst none of the others do. If I open Hotmail in Explorer, this doesn’t happen. :ponder:

Same Gmail but they add your mobile# for additional control …

I didn’t get the link. Can you send it again?

I’ll pass the ones I got on to you. I think you’ll find the third one exactly what you need.

  1. Uninstall Firefox.
  2. Run a virus checking program.
  3. Download the latest Firefox.
  4. Install Firefox.
  5. Don’t install any Firefox plugins.
  6. Try Hotmail. Is it still flickering? If yes, continue with step 7. If no, good. And don’t click on any suspicious emails or go to p0rn sites. Check all sites before you commit to visiting with something like http://safeweb.norton.com
  7. Save all of your personal data and irreplaceable files in an external drive.
  8. Format your computer.
  9. Reinstall everything.

If you can’t be bothered to do steps 8 and 9, then here are some alternate steps.

  1. Smash your computer with a hammer or run over it with your car or sell it to someone who knows how to fix it.
  2. Buy a MacBook Air.
