When I was teaching in Taiwan I took up a salary job at the “Everyday English Club”. the pay-per-hour was less (~$300/hr) but it was a constant 6hr/day, 6days/week–at the same location. I tried “BuXiBan hopping” (going from one school one day to another to another, etc) where I’d teach one class for 1 hr and charge $500/hr (going rate at that time). But I got sick of trying to schedule in private lessons and traveling all over to make money. I never tried a national school since they wanted a 1 yr commitment (didn’t want to be stuck).
Are most of you teachers doing hourly or salary? Pros?Cons?
