House paint

I want to paint my house interior. I know that B & Q sells paint BUT I’d really like to find other brands which have other colors and is a better quality. Has anyone seen paints such as Benjamin Moore or Behr ? Or has a suggestion of another brand name other than B & Q Dulux. Thank you…

Dulux quality not good? It’s ICI (Akzo Noble), globally one of the largest. Not enough colors? B&Q will mix/blend any color you can dream up … and they have other brands.

What BP said. Dulux is good quality, and B&Q has a HUGE range of custom mix colors available, and other quality brands as well.

We went to Hola to buy some recently from Dulux: you can choose from thousands of different colors they will mix for you.

thank you all… I wasn’t aware that B & Q would or could mix a different color other than their color charts…

They told me that I could bring a photograph or sample in, and they could match it. However, I don’t know whether by “match” they mean pick the closest color on their charts (they have a large spiral set with zillions of colors by their mixing machine) or whether they actually have a color analyzer.

Guys, how safe is that paint around pets/kids/people with allergies? Every time I mention painting, my neighbors scream “Nooo!, it will kill your pets!”. I think Dulux should be reliable, right?

AFAIK, you want low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from the paint, in addition to very good ventilation (open ALL the windows , put several fans on to vent the fumes), and get out of there for a good while after you’re done painting. Dulux has a low VOC paint, which is what we used at home and in our store. It’s not a substitute for good ventilation. Use the two together.

Just repaint the baby room with Dulux. It smelled a bit for two weeks and now it is perfect. It says it is washable… It was this or Nippon Paint.

you live in Taiwan and you’re worried about VOCs from HOUSEPAINT?

Paints, especially whites used to have lead oxide added, not healthy indoors. But that’s in the past, now they probably use safer ingredients, components … and most wall paints are water based, not solvent based.
