How are you spending the extra time at home?

It was suggested I post this as a separate topic so here it is.

I’m planning to spend the extra time at home to do more home workouts since the gym is closed and going through my backlog of YouTube videos that I always save to my watch later playlist and never look at again…

So how is everyone else going to spend the extra time at home??

Copying the post I already made where this question started:

I’m not sure if I will have extra time. This distance learning stuff is going to take a lot of time to figure out. Plus, my wife will be spending more time at home, and I do most of the cooking.

In terms of fitness, I got an Apple Watch last year and eventually signed up for Apple Fitness+ (tons of fitness videos). The free subscription expired last week - but I renewed it for a month, because, well, there’s no swimming now, and I have a suspicion soon there won’t be as much cycling or walking either. Time to imitate my mom in the 80s and exercise in front of the TV.

And I’m probably going to spend time finding fun recipes to cook and realizing, damn, it needs an ingredient I need to head halfway across the city for, so I probably can’t make it until this nonsense is over.

Well, I already work from home, but now I have 2 kids and a wife here too. So, I’ll be doing more school work, more cleaning, more cooking, more games with kids. I’ll be doing less sleeping, less working, less free time reading, playing guitar, or playing video games.

same way i spent it in vancouver while self-isolating… on forumosa!

Tomorrow I’ll be buying plug adaptors so me, the wife and daughter aren’t all working/studying on the same dining table. I’ll figure out my next step after sorting that out.

what extra time? my buxiban is requiring us to still come in and just make two hour teaching videos for each class, as if that’s going to go over well. kind of dreading it to be honest, i’d prefer the 9 day covid holiday, thankyouverymuch.

Finishing off a neglected personal project. Now about 85% of the way through it.

Deep-cleaning and decluttering the apartment. Finished the bathroom and one closet today.

Cooking.

Reading and watching videos.

I’ve been WFH for a year already. Now I have to deal with the whole family around me all day.
I need to figure out some home exercise routine…urrgh.

Pornhub, Cajun cooking, Netflix, Amazon and Skype.

Trying to record youtube videos with low quality GoPro knockoffs, and figure out how to tie it all together…

Instead of teaching unruly kids for money, I’m now proctoring unruly kids, my own, for free.

I’m sitting around getting fat. Eating way more than I usually do. Walking around naked. Drinking even more than usual (it is possible if you put the effort in) and reading dumb shit on the internet. Getting most of my grading done.
Keeping weird hours. Going to bed at 10 p.m, waking up at 4 a.m, reading dumb shit on the internet. Going to sleep at 11 a.m., waking up at 2 p.m. to feed the screaming cats and read more banal shit on the internet. Then going to lie down again at some arbitrary time.
I miss being forced to go to bed early and wake up at 6 a.m. Routine stabilizes me. This random shit is unsettling.

Sh*t I hear you. I had the unprivilege on two occasions of having a broken arm and then a broken shoulder caused by two stupid motorcyclists with in two years. Got compensated but the down time was torture.
Walk, my friend. Forget the heat, dress like a local all covered up and walk. Bicycle, even…
There are so many roads, streets, fish farms, tea farms, whatever to explore. Granted you want to avoid alleys and other close areas now but under normal times, those are great too
What sucks now is I’m stuck at home without in a more passive mode without the health benefits of active teaching. My morning free time usually devoted to excercise is gone…and there are no gyms in the afternoon.
Now… playing sysop…to the kid.
First day of online class… Unexpected problems…bye
Edit: why can’t everyone use the same keyboard map now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to change one ㄅㄆㄇ for another on a Chinese only chromebook.
I gave the kid my laptop.
Spouse working

Are you on full pay?

LESS video games despite the fact you have kids? This is the perfect time to play video games!

if they expect me to come in then it better be.

How can you do a two hour video with no class interaction… our school just said 30minutes online class is enough

I’ll be spending it trying to get my wife to talk to me again. Man, “no money, no honey” has never rung truer.

I have a lot less free time…how could I play more video games? What’s even worse is that when I can actually play games they have to be kid friendly.

You can still excersise with a follow along workout in youtube. I feel that since they have a determined length, doing them in the morning, right after I made my coffee and started to work, gave me some structure (or at least the serotonin to go through the day)
