Hi!
We are a newcomer family from Greece - we are living in Hsinchu and we have left our 1.5 years stray dog, Kassandra, back to Greece to some friends.
Greece is not a rabbies-free country so the procedures here in Taiwan are something like 6 months quarantine in conditions that we cannot possible know…
The thing is that we were waiting to take some blood samples from our dog and give them to the national greek disease center and then start the procedure but our friends now are syaing that they cannot keep her any longer so we have to rush…
Can you please tell what to do?
Is there any office in Hsinchu that we can go and start the procedure?
You need to microchip your dog with an ISO microchip. Then you need to take it your vet to get rabies vaccine. Then the vet needs to wait a couple weeks and draw blood titers. The titers can only be sent to a couple places, one being the Kansas State University lab in USA. That lab analyzes the blood and sends the report to Taiwan. If it is OK, you need to wait 6 months from the time that the titer was drawn before the dog can enter Taiwan. Abouth a month before Taiwan entry you can get an import permit from Taiwan. About 10 days before leaving greece you need a medical report certified by some type of vet. In the U.S. there is a USDA certification. Upon entry to Taiwan the dog will be quarantined, in Taipe it is at NTU vet hospital and the conditions are quite good. After 21 days of quarantine you get your dog.
A colleague had titer work analyzed in Germany and landed at Taoyuan with his cat and got turned around sent back out of the country, at which point he had to find a home in a foreign country for ~6+ months to re-do the cat stuff so make sure you use a certified lab. You likely need to find a good home in Greece for your pet with people who are willing to do all this legwork for you as you can’t just bring the dog in. You can contact the authorities in Hsinchu here:

If Greece is similar to the U.S.:
