How did you imagine what Asia was like before arriving?

The fuck is “Shanghai steak”?
Is that a euphemism for cat meat?

Guy

Europe is nice. Just not as nice as most people think before living here. It’s one thing to vacation, another beast to live there. And it depends on where in Europe just like where in Asian really.

I just think it’s funny people who live in shithole areas in Europe like the ones I talked to think Asia is a giant shit hole.

Oh yeah I agree that lots of ignorant people there , just like everywhere really , what’s surprising is that so called educated people can be just as ignorant. One finds well travelled folks such as scientists and business people have a better perspective as to how the world is put together.

Now I have to say Asia can be challenging for some Westerners. Raw fish ? Hot and humid ? Poor sanitation ? Noisy…It’s not everybody’s idea of a good time is it.

Sounds like Liverpool…

I didn’t say it’s terrible, just that it’s not a paradise non-Europeans have in their imagination. The first time I visited (France) a thief came inside the hotel, walk through the hall, then stole stuff (didn’t succeed) and the hotel staff did nothing. That was eye-opening.

Then I got to know many Europeans and have become aware of their situation and most of the time it’s far from ideal. Most are struggling to get by, while some are just … tragic.

My experience in Europe was in Switzerland, France and Northern Italy. The one thing that caught my attention (besides the beauty of the old towns, cathedrals, castles, etc) was how completely laid back everyone seemed to be.

I was there visiting family for a while, so was in tourist mode but with locals. I think actually living any place and having to make a living there gives you a very different view on how life really is.

Always

Seel the trail of youtubers or English teachers doing a tour of Taiwan, sticking up their Taiwan No.1 videos and then moving on to fresh grazing pastures.

Based on all my friends’ experiences of Europe, I assume everyone there is on drugs, raving nonstop from Thursday to Monday, and fucking on park benches.

Is there any country where ppl in small towns lead a very hectic lifestyle?

Anyway, there’s really large differences in lifestyle between those who are well off and the under class in Europe, just the same as in Asia. When you’re the underclass in Western countries things can get scary…Fast.

There used to be a huge rural city divide in some countries but I don’t think that’s as much of a thing now.

Casual robbery and thievery, yes it’s common in parts of Europe and mostly related to drug abuse in my opinion.

When I first came, I think I expected a greater level of aesthetic appreciation. I was shocked to see so much cheap plastic crap and what appeared to be zero priority to style, neither personal nor in their surroundings.
I think I likened it to one huge Walmart.

As a recovering casual robber and thief, I find that pretty offensive…

And you’re here because?

I was told the brothels were really good here. It’ll be fun, they said

I don’t wanna learn Deutsch.

Next thing he knew he was waking up in the garden of the Grand Hotel, buck naked with full Taiwanese Opera makeup on, a gold string tied around his johnson, and a red envelope between his butt cheeks with NT50¢ inside.

The rest, as they say, is history…

Guy

It took only 35 posts before this thread somehow deteriorated into tying gold string around his johnson.

Karate Kid part II

Technically I skipped the first 20 or so.

Full disclosure etc.

So Europeans think Asia is even more backwards than Americans think it is?

The US is one place for us too, and it’s not. Except that everything is ‘bigger’ all over the US.
