How did your investments do in 2024?

I think everything works until doesn’t.

It’s all about jumping off the train before it derails.

Wait, this is not the derailment thread…

Ouch got smashed back down again yesterday.

Yeah! wth! lol

Taiwan stock market was in a recession for Q4 compared to Q3 :scream: /s

They are playing on the USD currency strength to make this graph looking everything even stronger for the US market. In a way I agree with their graph, but in another way I don’t as only currency and not inflation is included. But reality is that US stock market in Q4 was doing well, same as the last 10+ years so investing in US stock market has paid off historically (probably also future but I don’t dare to commit that )

Much if it depends on TSMC and the Foxconn. TSMC has been catching up and now the Taiwan stock market also catches up .

The good news is that when TSMC goes up we all get richer as our pension fund does better.

Dividend payments are also not included. US shares usually pay crappy dividends and AU shares usually pay around 4% yield depending on the company which would distort the graph too

Looking at the stock and crypto market it’s clear investors have no clue from big to small how every day is going to end. Its up, it’s down, it’s up again. Schizo lol

I thought Walgreens was gone, a slow march towards the end… but what do I know? Up 20% today

I think it’s because the US economy is actually in a very good place right now, but the way the market is conditioned is that they want lower interest rates as soon as possible and they are looking for data that means the Fed will drop interest rates .

And yet the US economy is good, there’s no hint of a recession , people are making lots of money and spending it ! Hence we see a lot of volatility.

Hopefully they come around more to that frame of mind i.e it’s good for the US economy to be good.

For instance why would TSMC stock be down when the economy is good and their forecast earnings are spectacular. Strong economy is good for buying chips. Schizo.
