How do home loans work here

Hi there! I’m currently in the process of buying a house for the first time in Taiwan. I have a Taiwanese guarantor and they’re offering 2%. I know that’s low by Western standards. I’m just curious as to how the loans generally work. Are they principal+interest, where the interest payment steadily decreases as the principal decreases?

I was poking around last night and a lot of loans showing up were 1.25 - 1.6%. Might want to quadruple check and see if you can get a better rate. A large reason for the insane property costs here is the very low interest rates.

Thanks. I was wondering about the rate. Seems on the high end, but I think I heard that the seller wants the loan to go through ESun Bank only. I’ll have to look into the reasons for that.

I’m equally curious as to the nature of the home loans here too.
