How do people in Taiwan view China

I’m planning on moving to Taiwan soon and I’m curious about how people in Taiwan view the relationship between Taiwan and China. It seems like there’s a lot of tension between the two and I often hear discussions about status quo, unification, independence, and cross strait relations.

How do you personally view China? What are your thoughts on Taiwan’s future? Is this something people talk about often or is it mostly a political issue that doesn’t come up much in daily life?

I’m not looking to start an argument or debate I’m genuinely interested in understanding the perspectives of people who live in Taiwan since I’ll hopefully be living there soon.

Enemy state.

I viewed it through the binoculars set up in Kinmen, many Taiwanese were viewing it the same way.
