How do you deal with Bad Days

Ever have one of those days where you snap at every little thing at work and everyone is stepping on egg shells around you.

Then saying “Screw you, if you don’t like it, go somewhere else” to all your clients.

How do you guys deal when you enter this funky state of mind?

Usually somebody points out that the problem here is not the day, it’s the person having the day. Shape up or ship out.

Life has been giving me the cane, actually just pinning me down and feeding it to me, for the past couple of weeks. Just the most God awful shit you can think of. Just gotta deal with the bad times, no words of wisdom, no helpful little tricks, no Chi exercises or a change of diet can help…just take it and move on.

I torture small animals until the feeling goes away.

an occasional bad day, after work have a few beers go to sleep and forget it. just don’t string days like that in a row. you will alienate people.

Strag, you having one of them days as well huh ?

I pray and pray and pray. When that doesnt give me the immediate solution I demand, I zone out by watching tv. If that don’t work, then a glass of scotch helps. Then again, sleeping works also. If I have a willing ear to listen to me, then, I tell them I need to ‘dump’ and just let it rip. Which is always better. Best of luck

Me, I wallow in my own loathing and self-pity for the day, largely isolate myself from the world, and just generally have a shitty day. I figure why try and deny it? May as well just go hog wild and feel like shit and get it over with.

two possible things wrong

  1. You and how you handle situations

  2. The environment and the people you work with

Days like this are all part of the job. If everybody reacted in the way you say by telling the clients to screw themselves then the companies would not last long

On the otherhand it is just a job… and getting irratated and cranky does your health no good and does not fix the problem

A few beers help. So does watching a funny movie after work.

Additionally, just think that we all have days like that, and well, being angry at the world is not going to solve a thing - rather mellow out and enjoy.

After all, we are only given 25,000 days on this earth, and well… why waste one of them?

Going to the gym, running like hell, and sweating a bucket can generally leach most of those mood-darkening toxins out of one’s system.

Mental masturbation works for me – oh, wait a minute, you already spend most of your time doing that.

  1. Serve someone who is deserving of it.
  2. Vigorous exercise, a la Omni’s suggestion.
  3. Schedule time to do exactly what you want to do (okay, you may not be able to pull off an orgy with 12 nubile college women, but you can find something to do that you enjoy).
  4. Lose yourself in a good book, a fine meal, a well-made film, a masterful set of music.
  5. Find a friend to unburden on.

Mr. He has it right. There are only so many days available on this earth. Spending a single day in a fit of anger or depression isn’t worth it.

come on sandy - You didn’t have to throw “mental” in there for our benefit - Aren’t we all friends here…
I think excercise is the best cure - especially swimming - something about being in water helps ease the tension. otherwise any excercise that’s really painful and intense - you’ll forget all about it after a good workout like that…

He’s talking about specifically bad days – the other kind of masturbation is a winner no matter what kind of day you’re having.

You know, that this is life and it shall pass…and you will get better later.
(I know I know, it’s such a cliche…)

Think of death.

I’ve always found the easiest way to lighten the load is to think of your own death. Focus on it fully and soon everything falls into perspective.

If that fails you just take the next logical step. What the fuck!

I think Fox spoke out for me. That’s correct!

Suggesting suicide to a depressed person is correct?

No, Fox didn’t suggest that, neither did I.

What he said was how short our lives are, then nothing will really matter. We live only once, so why let others or things to spoil our mood, making us miserable?

Got it?
