How do you feel after a day of work?

Brain-fried.

After I walk the dogs, I feel like myself again.

Brain-fried.

After punching the clock out, I always feel much better.

I kinda was enjoying the gazes of the girls on-campus today. If I bother to make eye contact they get all girly, and as tommy would say, them’s is sweet young gals. There must be filthy old (and young) men out there who would love my job. Myself, I don’t fiddle with the customer.

I rode out today’s three classes, hit the campus supermarket and treated myself to a beer on the steps of the main admin building. Feels food to have the next two days off. Then the sheer joy of IELTS examining this weekend…

Re. doing something to escape: give me something fast - a bike or car. That’ll sort out my escapism. Preferably something that can hit 200km/h in less than 10 seconds. Can’t guarantee how long I’ll last though (although I’m pretty good at the bars/wheel).

Bangers. Bangers. Bangers… and mash. Hmm, now I’m hungry.

I finish work at 10 pm mon to fri, normally feel pretty knackered. On the way home, I contemplate going for a run … then end up popping by the local family mart for a few tinnies.

Do you have a girlfriend? Not just someone you’re sleeping with, but someone you care for? Or some really good guy friends? Sounds like you may be lonley. Conversation classes and IELTS examining don’t make for much of a life. You can do them on auto pilot. You need more intellectual stimulation, more and deeper human interaction.

Maybe. Take that vacation, but try not to take it alone. You should invite a really good friend to go with you.

You just sound like all the living has gone out of your life.

I feel kinda wilted after a day at work, but maybe because that’s the easy part. When I get home I still have to “homemake,” clean, cook, clean, be a mom, clean, clean.

Yes a GF to love and hang out with is the best. Barring that, a few good buds to have a brew and hang out with is pretty cool too.

You may have motivated me to start my walks again to keep in shape (or get in shape rather) by walking the berkeley campus and seeings those godzillions of hotties there. Always a treat.

I feel pretty good after knocking off. I kinda like my job, which helps. Just one evening class tomorrow and my girl is bringing me breakfast in bed well after sun up. I still don’t know if I got lucky with life or I made some right decisions. But I don’t really care, either way. Life is good.

a good girl always brings more joy into ones life. A bad one? HELL

This.

I miss having a pet A LOT. But you don’t don’t get a doggie or kittie knowing you could leave in a the next six months or so. That’s unfair to them.

I’ll be brutally honest - I have a girl in my confines tonight. But she’s a traveler. The comfort is awesome, but tomorrow she moves on.

EDIT: got nothing to lose, I’m going to be nice to everybody, see how that works. I dropped a tenner in the old lady’s basket. I should be doing that every day innit.

Smile more, give more space, etc etc.

Work? I try to avoid that.

customer-relations.

But, as you imply, there is relatively innocent enjoyment to be had which doesn’t have to cross that line.

I got “adopted” by a couple of the canpus sponsored strays when I was doing a solitary “I am Legend” impersonation a couple of winter vacations ago, so I get to walk them without any long term responsibility. (Havn’t been doing it much lately, though, because of the knees.)

You might be able to contrive some similar arrangement.

After a day of work, I feel lonely, because translation is solitary work, but I also feel healthier, and less stressed, because after making the switch from teaching buxiban English to translation, I have the leisure to set my own hours, work as long as I want, and balance my work life with exercise and extracurricular study (studying Chinese). So overall I probably have a more healthy and fulfilling life.

There’s a little ‘brak’ (mongrel) dog in the village I live nearby who I formed a relationship with.

I can whistle from a 100 yards and the scrapper comes running, tummy-up, ready for a scratch or a run around. The owners owners offered her up to me a year ago, but I know she’s happy right where she is.

She’s dirty as an oil-rag, since she sits under breadwagons most days, but damn, she knows my whistle.

Consider her one of her my ‘crew’ in the village.

Can’t quite picture that, but it sounds like a talented and valuable animal, perhaps escaped from a circus.

There might be a reward. :ponder:

More advice: DO NOT read this thread, with all these losers bitching and moaning (APART FROM THIS BIT, OBVIOUSLY)

Instead, head on over to the parallel thread:-

where you’ll learn, from an entirely different bunch of people, that its a stress-free paradise, and if you stick around long enough (and you aren’t a total loser) riches will fall into your lap like ripe mangoes off a tree, as they have for them.

That will make you feel MUCH better.

W.O.R.K is a 4 letter word but its better then the 5 letter word B.R.O.K.E

An oldie but a goodie.

Love my job, it’s the work I hate.

I believe the people in the other thread are in denial. I am very qualified and far from a loser. You are not a real teacher you are pretty much doing your job right when you just shut up and take abuse from your student day in day out until you break, then the school throws you out and replaces you with the next one in line.
