My latest exercise in futility involves learning to talk about the stock market in Chinese. I have six weeks. This will likley prove to be quite a challenge given that I know nothing about the stock market and very little about Chinese. I am going to make a vocabulary list (ever expanding,) translate a bunch of “useful” sentences and write little stories, or perhaps one long story, wherein that vocabulary will be recycled in an amusing and insightful way. Grammatical oddities, poor word choice etc. will of course be de riguer. In any event, like I mentioned, I have six weeks.

I think a better term for individual term for indivdial investor’s losses is ‘賠錢’ pei qian or ‘虧錢’
kui qian. If you make money you ‘賺錢’ zhuan qian.
Lose everything ‘虧本’ kui ben
If you think the market is looking up, bullish you can say ‘看好’ kan hao.
If you throw a lot of money at something you could say ‘砸 一大筆錢’ za yi da bi qian
