Hi, I just noticed that my ROC driving license expired about a week ago, anybody know how long I’ve got to re-new it before I have to re-take the test? The license was issued in Shihlin.
Did a few searches on forumosa, read through the related threads and checked http://www.tcmvd.gov.tw/en_default1.htm, but couldn’t find an answer to this question anywhere. Thanks for sharing if anybody knows! Xpet.

You should still be OK. I renewed mine a little after it expired. Do it as soon as possible, though. It’s very easy and quick. I think you need to take your ARC along.
Three years?! In that case I guess I can take my time, eh? Am I right in assuming that I have to go to the same place where I got the license to renew it, or is it at some police bureau or so? Thanks, Xpet.
… I just came back from renewing my license, and it was indeed easy. Points to note:
bring two passport pics, or money (NT$140) for the poto-booth, which is conveniently located right opposite the counter (second floor, turn left & then right)
renewal fee is currently NT$200,-
the license will only be renewed to the date your ARC expires, logical when you think about it …
you can have your old license back, but you have to ask for it. It’ll be clipped and stamped invalid of course
come early, lunch-time opening hours on weekdays until 12:30 only
I was there at 12:15, in & out within 10 minutes tops, incl. photo-booth. Xpet.
