Sheā€™s weird. Weird teaching ideas. Sheā€™s okay but not like pretty. Trying to be sexy with her low-cut top that for some reason has buttons that donā€™t work and the rest of her clothes fit ugly like auntie everywhere.

Hereā€™s a sexy alternative that is unexpectedly much more intelligent, explaining the characters in pinyin, with very close visuals of the mouth where you can observe how to shape your mouth to pronounce the tones correctly.

Yeah Iā€™ve always had a problem with Chineasy. A lot of it makes sense for an absolute fundamentals of Chinese for an English speaker, but a lot of the character representations did just fine in their original/oracle bone versions, but Chineasy does something different with it (儳 being the most annoying one to me). Also, while ā€œknee-howā€ is a great place to get started, itā€™s a slippery slope soon after if you donā€™t learn pinyin and proper pronunciation.

As for her attractiveness, I consider myself to be a straight, cisgender woman, but Iā€™m still not sure why this thread is titled as such.

Just write the characters loads of times and make flash cards. Tried and tested

This. Anything else will not help you beyond ~200 characters. Gimmicky

Yeah I had a book in China that went through first few hundred characters and explained them like in that video. That book was from the 60ā€™s as well. Guess you need to know the root of common characters , but as you said, after a while you are just going to have to slog through it.

Anki and memorization programs are good and more important than that video. One thing I wish I did was memorising the colours for the tones.

I have watched more Chineasy YouTube videos and much repetitive repeating same characters.
I was joking about attractiveness as Iā€™d had a few beers that afternoon ā€œ beer gogglesā€ still think sheā€™s nice looking tho.
