How much do you think pro-China posters get from the PRC?

Well, the truth is out! We already knew that the PRC had loads of its cronies on the web, but we have the proof.

I wonder how much some of our PRC loving brigade get paid? Seems like a great job. I wonder if Crash Gordon will pay me anything for saying he has saved the UK and the world :loco:

50 cents a post, according to the article.

cctang was very very likely one of these. Did anyone really believe that someone with an engineering background could have the writing skills of a master’s level native English speaker? Or that a man with a small child, new wife, and prosperous business would have the time to make 20-30 posts a day on fcom alone (he was also active on other forums)? Or that such a man would have, again, a grad student level of understanding of the Taiwan and Tibet issue?

Implausible in the extreme.

ROC should raise bid to $1 (not NT!).

Make advantage of foreign reserve. Blogging over mainland strategy 2.0. Digital warfare initiative.

cctang, sure, but I disagree with Mucha Man on AC. I think the PRC CAN’T easily find more qualified people. Remember, they’ve got to find 10,000 of them, and a lot of the sharpest individuals aren’t going to work for 50 fen per post.

AC makes his share of “third-person-singular” and “singular/plural” mistakes, but his English is web worthy.

In short, AC is EXACTLY the quality of poster I would expect to find being paid by the PRC.

Actually Omni and I once wondered if students who go abroad on scholarships aren’t asked as part of their requirements to engage in some of this propoganda. In which case finding some excellent spokespeople wouldn’t be that hard.

Don’t forget too that many of the most educated people in China completely agree with their governments position on Taiwan and Tibet. It isn’t as if they are being asked to lie - just defend.

But yeah, I suppose the overall quality would be low.

Very true.

So AC’s 8700 posts over the past 4.5 years would have added up to 4350 RMB. Not bad.

Who’s Sandman workin’ for?

Sandman is working for the People’s Republic of Scoootland! The mad Mctavishes and McBroons :sunglasses:

I would have thought that under the great socialist dictatorship of a people’s democracy, an intellectual prostitute would have equal pay to any other prostitute, but $0.50 per post?

Then again, Mao Tse Tung, the great father of the people’s revolution always referred to writers as ‘stinkin’ intellectuals’, so what’s to be expected?

It’s either write or do productive labor - if ever the twain shall meet.

We’ve got some of those “commentators” back home. A leak in the system -someone hacked a high official’s email- spilled all the beans…

I work for Stout. Or I.P.A.
Solid gold, mate…

People are so paranoid online… :roflmao:

That would be like accusing posters of anti-PRC opinion to be working for the DPP or CIA on a pay per post basis.

The problem with that situation is that AC would win by default, since he posts for free.

Maybe you could show 'em your work, and ask if you can get any back pay.

Sadly you are so wrong again. We all know that the PRC do this, nothing paranoid about it. As for you, I would be amazed if someone doesn’t pay you, as why else would you post so much apologist shite and on such a regular basis?

The US government and all the others spend billions of dollars per year on fake news/propaganda.

But the PRC are cheapskates. That’s why they lose the PR, C?

And their products are crap.

I don’t agree with the vast majority of what AC posts here, but if “posting apologist shite on a regular basis” on Forumosa is necessarily indicative of being paid to do so, then you green kool-aiders here on the Flob must be very wealthy indeed…

Indeed.

I’m glad someone said it…

You mean I’ve been posting for the wrong side all along. I should have been another green kool-aid drinker and making millions of NTD for my efforts… :roflmao:

This thread is descending into personal attack territory, and nothing new will come of it, so I’m closing the door BEFORE the horse bolts.
