I’m sure many of you here do private work with companies, so I thought I’d ask here before proposing a price to the boss. I teach business English to a company a few nights a week, and the boss has now asked me to revise basically a video that they will be playing at their upcoming trade show. In addition, he has also asked me to come to a studio and record the draft. So I was wondering if you all have done this kind of recording work before, and if so, how much were you paid? I’m sure that if I wasn’t at this company teaching, he’d probably have to go out and find a random foreigner and pay a pretty handsome price for the service.
What are you getting paid per hour now? If it’s already a pretty handsome price, you might want to do this for the same price just to maintain good guanxi. If not, you might ask for 25-50% more for that kind of work.
