How soon can the AIT issue transportation letter(lost green

My co-worker is a US permanent resident visiting Taiwan on vacation.
Her small purse was lost and still have not been found. The contents
inside included her US greencard, driver’s license, business cards, a
few hundred NT$, work ID, etc…

Fortunately, her airline tickets and passport are still safe at her friend’s
house. (along with a copy of her greencard which she kept in her luggage)

A police reported has already been filed. She has a copy of it. She plans
to go to the AIT next week and apply for a “transporation letter” so she
can return to the US. Her planned return date is 1 week after Christmas.

How long does it usually take the AIT to issue a transporation letter?
I looked on their website and found most info, except how long it will
take.

Thanks in advance for any help!

AIT Taipei or AIT Kaohsiung?

As most people have posted before, AIT Taipei sucks shit. I can attest to their shittiness and attitude problems. Their Taiwanese staff workers are among the “best” of the worst Taiwan can offer. Wonderful experiences like “read the website, all the information is there,” but when you protest that you’re calling specifically to get clarification of that information, they beat you back down insinuating that you don’t understand English. The last thing I need is some Taiwanese twit telling me I don’t understand English. :fume:

AIT Kaohsiung OTOH is a much pleasanter experience from those who’ve posted. I wouldn’t be surprised…hard to get worse than AIT Taipei.

I should just somewhere else to get my US paperwork handled :s

Sorry for the :offtopic: rant.
