I heard stories about things people do with these gongyu… for example putting big aquariums on the third floor, etc. but I’m just wondering if I place a 1 ton milling machine on the second floor, will I cause a building collapse? I see people do all kind of heavy stuff with these gongyu (in fact I see a lot of machine shop based in a gongyu)…
Depends a lot on the design weight of the building, floor thickness, location of beams and columns, etc. Machinery is more tricky because it creates vibration, not just weight.
In general, buildings built after 1999 are built to higher standards.
Are you sure you want to have industrial equipment in a residential building? It’s not just a matter of stability, but also noise and about whether you have access to high voltage.
The floor below is going to be a factory and I think maybe I can ask if I can use their 3 phase power. The entire area is industrial.
Besides I really only need the standard 110/220 because I can use a VFD to run a 3 phase motor.
All the home factorie is see in our 50 year old gonyus are located on the first floor. Noodle makes, water pump aseembly, that kind of stuff.
Only thing I see in the second floor are hair salons and seamstresses.
I did see a spa on the second floor of a gongyu and it has a rather large pool inside (with I think about 2000 gallons of water in it, or more)
I read somewhere waterbeds weight at least 2000 pounds
Edited to say the pool is about 10 by 15 feet 3 feet deep, that’s a lot more than 300 gallons. It’s on the second floor of a gongyu
(Eying my bookshelves nervously)
I have double width wall to wall bookshelves. I ain´t thinking either.
