"How Taipei Metro turned itself around"

Nice article. I didn’t know that there used to be delays on MRT line.

It was always good I think except for the brown line problems

That the metro wasn’t always this good is news to me, too.

I like all the more recent little touches they’ve added, with the “train coming” jingles at some stations.

Somgjiang Nanjing has the weirdest jingle, sounds like something from an alien TV show.

Yeah I’ve heard a couple kinda spooky sounding ones, but most of them are pretty nice.

The MRT in Taipei has always struck me as super reliable. I’ve never experienced a delay on it. In contrast, SkyTrain in Vancouver is a bit of a shitshow. Tons of delays and occasionally junkies wandering out onto the tracks.

Mods: perhaps merge the conversation there?

Thanks for linking, but methinks this is not “Life on MRT 2018” and warrants a separate discussion.

Heh, you might be right. It might be more accurately described as “Life on Taipei’s MRT after numerous Brown Line scandals and debacles not excluding trains catching on fire!”

The inimitable Han Cheung looks back to 1993 and beyond in an epic account of the fiasco-ridden beginnings of Taipei’s MRT system:

You’ve come a long way, baby! : D
