How to become American --- AGAIN

I asked my local AIT about getting Taiwanese citizenship. They were helpful in providing me the basics. And I asked about getting American citizenship back after renouncing it.

I was told that the only way (there must be others) would be for me to find an American woman (in the US) willing to marry me and sponsor me. The process would take about 7 years – a six month wait in Taiwan while waiting for the approval of a spousal visa ~ and all the documentation that requires, getting a green card, taking a citizenship test etc.

Hmmm it’s possible, but is it worth the hassle? The only reason I considered it is because my ex-wife doesn’t allow our daughter out of Taiwan. I thought Taiwanese citizenship would give me more status and power when dealing with custody issues, etc.

But going to America to get citizenship defeats my purpose in being here.

Join the US Army. Honorably complete your enlistment.
Easy as that.

Or you might try Canada. Or Mexico.
Cross the border into the USA, get a job, establish residency then just show your original USA birth certificate and claim there has been a terrible mistake made.

Buenas Suerte’ Amigo.

Being an ROC citizen makes no differene to custody. Custody is either settled between the parties themselves or by the courts.

I have joint custody of my son and wasn’t an ROC citizen. Is your daughter a dual national?
