How to ditch SMS?

I’m so sick of spam I’m willing to give up messaging altogether. At 90% spam/scam it’s just a waste of time. If someone wants me badly enough they can call. CHT had two options, one to disable SMS altogether, the other to just disable the inbox.

And does it work?

And does it work?[/quote]The wife couldn’t remember my ARC number so it had to wait until today to test it. Will report back later.

OK, so this is how it works (or is supposed to work).

You call a service number with your ARC (or ID) number handy. You ask for SMS service to be either:
a) prevented from delivering CHT service or promotional messages.
b) restricted to outgoing messages only, inbox disabled.
c) locked altogether.
They make open a function in the system at their end and give you a code sequence to activate it. You enter the codes into your phone 24 hours after the system changes are made and that’s it. You can enter another code at any time to undo the changes and use SMS as per default settings (spam).

Supposedly I’ll be able to activate this by tonight.
