Hi, I’m a Taiwanese American lady who’s interested in working in Taiwan and was wondering if I’ll need a special work visa. I’ve got a bachelors degree and a year of work experience. Any info will be greatly appreciated!
The short answer is yes, if you do not have a Taiwanese ID. You’re treated as a foreigner and foreigners need a work visa.
My wife tried to get her ID, and despite having an up to date ROC passport, was denied the ID because she didn’t have her household registry (hukou).
I would go to your nearest TECO and ask them what hoops you need to jump through to get your Taiwanese ID. Do you have an ROC passport (old or current)?
