How to get started working / teaching in Taiwan

Look at the temporary state licensing. Just search the FET English teaching FB groups covered in this forum already helps to use the search function

If you apply without a government-issued teaching license, you must have taught English at accredited schools overseas or taught as a Foreign English Teaching Assistant at Public/accredited private schools in Taiwan for more than one year

Doesnt that mean you are already working in Taiwan?

She has entered the country visafree by the sounds of it. Not sure she can change that to a work visa.

Thanks for the TFETP link. Useful.

Yep but be careful with that. - Many schools when hiring an American now ask if the new teacher has the temporary or full license now. (Many of the sub teachers have already built up such a bad reputation among many schools)

This is because many will join with that state license and not realise what is expected of them. They will often leave within 6 months of joining on their own accord… or fired/not renewed after the 6 or 12 month contract is up.

However, it is one of the better gigs in Taiwan you can get if you play your cards right.
