Hey everyone,
For those who have been, or at least those who know any information:
Could you please help with prices/locations/ and times to go? I want to go to Bali with my girlfriend around the end of December (even Christmas day I don’t care)- February for a 7 day trip. Does anyone know of any budget hotels for no more than $20-30 / night?
When I think of Bali, I of course think of the ridiculously priced hotels…but hten I know its Indonesia so I’m sure there are much cheaper hotels for a price of $10-30 / night USD. If anyone knows of any, or knows where/how to book for it please hit me up.
Flying there seems pretty cheap so it seems like a nice budget vacation!
Thanks in advance.
I went a few years back and stayed away from the coast. The town of Ubud in the center of the island is quite nice, has lots of cultural stuff to see and do, and I paid US$2 a night for my villa including a really nice breakfast each day. Cold water only – not that there was any need for hot – I think hot water could be had for extra, or something. Don’t remember.
I rented a motorbike, rode around looking at stuff, did lots of arts and crafts classes, silversmithing, life model drawing in a local studio run by an expat and her Balinese husband, and stuff like that. Stayed 2 weeks, spent very little, had a great time. But I’m not much for resorts, beaches or nightlife, so your mileage may vary. There is definitely no nightlife to speak of in Ubud (or at least there wasn’t then).
I went last Chinese New Year. There is actually one bar now in Ubud. You can find decent hotels for your price in Kuta (where all the nightlife is) or Seminyak (a little pricier, but not so noisy). We stayed in a decent hotel called Hotel Tanah Lot I think. You should take ironlady’s advice though and head up to Ubud too. I found the beaches to all together not be so impressive, then again I’m not a surfer. However, Ubud was the highlight of our trip with lots of day trips to volcanos, lakes, coffee plantations, art galleries, etc.
