Sounds pretty good to me. I think you’ve captured what you want to given the paucity of the original. Are you just being too hard on yourself, or are you tired, maybe??
Thanks. Yes, I was tired, and yes, the original was written by someone who obviously has not yet been through Narrative Writing 101.
I ended up going with it.
Funny, I get a lot of his stuff on my desk these days, too… I particularly like the “random comment” function evidently much in vogue among young Chinese newspaper writers these days, particularly those writing feature stories about culturally-related stuff and local festivals. NOT! :fume:
