[HRM] How do I get a Household Registration Certificate?

I need advice on how to get a household registration certificate or a birth certificate with my chinese name on it.

I have been living in the US and haven’t travelled in 10 years, now I need to travel immediately!

MY family here doesn’t have any documents from Taiwan. Can I request documents from the Taiwan government offices and have them faxed to them?

IT seems so difficult to get a record from Taiwan. I am so use to the US keeping records of everything.
Please help!

Not sure how having the household registration document will help you travel if your passport is current?

No they won’t do that. You need to have a family or friend in Taiwan visit the last place your household was registered. The government has complete records of everything but you need to go there. In order for them to process changes to the household registration document, you will need to show them picture identification proving you are who you are.

If you still have family in Taiwan, it might be worth it for you to have your name put on their household registration certificate.

What I forgot to say was that I am applying for a Taiwan passport. I have a resident alien in the US. I don’t have a copy of my old passport because it’s been so long since I traveled internationally.

I been asked to get a Household Registration Certificate. Even a birth certificate will do but they need something with my chinese name on it. I don’t have any family in Taiwan. I do have a friend. Can she go to ANY household registration bureau and help me get the household registration I need?

help! =(

Do you know which hospital you were born? Ask your friend to go to that hospital and ask where they can get birth certificate records.

As for HRCs, your friend must go to the town/city where your family last lived in Taiwan or where they last had their HRC registered. Your friend cannot go to any HRC bureau to get that information. You should be able to figure out where your family lived last? I’m also assuming that your HRC had your name on it? You really need to get some help from your parents if you can.

Another question, did you or do you still have a copy of your Taiwan ID number anywhere? I’m guessing not, but if you do, then that’s all the TECO office needs to get your passport reissued. It will take 3 weeks from the date of application.
