Hualien Accommodation

Just returned from a trip down to Hualien/Taroko and stayed somewhere a little different.

Cypress House

The website is all in chinese unfortunately, but I can tell you Cypress House is located very close to the heart of Hualien city, yet is quiet, cosy and peaceful. It is fairly new I think, and is made largely of Cypress wood inside and out, and is complimented by small details like Cypress bathroom products etc, so it smells great.
There is a pretty good communal deck area to hang out if you’re traveling with friends. Pics:http://www.cypresshouse.com.tw/index4.html
I don’t think I’ve stayed in a more immaculately presented hotel/motel anywhere, so I thought I’d pass it on.
Rooms are let in various sizes and configurations, and breakfast is included. There are facilities for dogs to stay too, but I didn’t check these out personally.
Rates are here: http://www.cypresshouse.com.tw/index3.html but FYI a double room with bathroom is 2900NT on the weekends, 2200NT during the week.

The proprietor speaks excellent english and is very helpful.

Sounds great. I stayed at the “Ola Hotel”, noisy, crowded and beds like concrete…at the same time the lobby/restaurant has crazy murals including one with a rampant erect penis that had my kids giggling for hours :astonished:

There are more and more of these places being built in Hualien. My wife and son and I stayed at one that had a large herb garden and a huge backyard/field. Very nice and afforable to boot.

(although breakfast blew cow. Someone needs to teach the Taiwanese how to make scramby eggs.)

can’t recall the name :frowning:
