Libya gives human rights prize to Venezuela’s Chavez

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) – Libya Sunday awarded its annual Moammar Gadhafi human rights prize to Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez for resisting “imperialism” and being a champion of the poor.

“I feel bathed in honor,” Chavez replied, adding he hoped to visit Tripoli soon.

Given that Carter has never met a dictator that he couldn’t “save” how about having Carter present the Qadaffi award to Chavez at a ceremony in Pyongyang or Teheran? The French can host the event and Kofi Annan can give the keynote address.

Be sure to invite George and Laura too.

They can wear his and hers flight navigator suits.

Since the Republicans consider Libya to be the crown jewel in their “we reshaped the world” arguments, perhaps Bush can present the award while sitting on Qadaffi’s lap. Bush would then be high enough to hang the medal around Chavez’s enormous noggin.
